Herbert explores friendship as a way of rethinking our entanglement with land, history, and one another. Against the enclosures that have turned commons into property, friendship gestures toward other ways of being—modes rooted not in ownership or exclusion, but in care, sharing, and resistance.
The wishing well in the film becomes a site for reflection and collective dreaming shaped by contamination, transformation and shared hope. Rather than turning to nostalgia, Herbert invites us to engage with the messy, entangled process of creating futures together.
